Bing Adds New Metrics To Its Webmaster Tools

If you’re a website owner, business owner or digital marketing expert, you should be aiming to get your website ranking on search engines other than Google. Such as Bing, for example.

Many people, including folk within your target audience, will use Bing, Yahoo and other search engines on a daily basis. So, it’s essential that you aren’t putting all your SEO eggs in one basket.

And if you are already aiming to rank on Bing, then you are likely familiar with Bing Webmaster Tools. For those of you who are not, Bing Webmaster Tools allows you to analyse how your website is performing on the search engine. You can then make important changes based upon your findings.

It is an incredibly useful SEO tool that is free to use and simple to set up.

And if you have logged into your Bing Webmaster Tools account today, you may have noticed a couple of changes. Exciting!

Crawl Requests, Crawl Errors and Indexed Pages Added

OK, so it may not be exciting for you. But we’re SEO experts, of course we’re going to get excited about more ways to help websites rank!!!

It has been spotted that Bing has (rather quietly) added new metrics to the Bing Webmaster Tools performance report. The performance reports is still a relatively new thing – having only been launched in 2020.

Up until today, you could monitor the clicks, impressions, average click-through rate and average position of your website. It was an all-round valuable tool.

And the new update, although not yet officially announced anywhere, has made Bing Webmaster Tools performance reports even better! Its new additions include crawl requests, crawl errors and indexed pages.

Using Bing Webmaster Tools

If you want to take advantage of these new metrics (and we really think you should), make sure you are using Bing Webmaster Tools! You don’t have to be an SEO expert to create an account and get yourself up and running. Simply…However, you

  • Create an account using a new or existing Microsoft, Google or Facebook account
  • Add and verify your website (you can add more than one website!)
  • Tell Bing about your website by uploading your site maps
  • Take advantage of the free tools, SEO reports and metrics to help your website rank

Bing has made it super easy to use their platform. However, unless you have some background knowledge in SEO or digital marketing, you may struggle to understand the SEO reports and suggestions.

If you would like to do your own research and give it a go yourself, we recommend using the Neil Patel blog as well as other useful sites, such as Moz and Search Engine Journal. Alternatively, we can help!
