Recently I’ve noticed that when you search for specific businesses with Google Places accounts, the company’s name is no longer a clickable link. Instead, a link underneath the title says “Places Page”.

This is in line with Google’s overall strategy to keep people on their system by providing them with all the information they need. The search engine is working towards becoming a one-stop-shop. Internet users and service providers use Google software for everything.

Suppose you want an example to search for a specific hotel nearby. In that case, travel is a crucial vertical for Google as it’s one of the best local searches and people have to buy at the end of it. 

Ultimately, Google will be trying to make you book your stay through Google places.
