Grow Traffic Customer Scoops Award For Second Year Running

By November 17, 2017News, Rossendale

The Grow Traffic team are back in the office after an exciting night at the Rossendale Business Awards. It was a great opportunity to catch up with the local business community, meet friends and make new ones.  A couple of our customers were in attendance or up for awards, and of course we got to sponsor and present an award (which was exciting!)

The Best of Rossendale

The Rossendale business community and dignitaries came together on Wednesday evening at a jam-packed Riverside Whitworth to celebrate the very best of local business. Organised by Valley ay Work, the 2017 awards were the 8th Rossendale Business Awards. Held each year, the awards showcase the achievements, quality and diversity of the businesses and people which make Rossendale a great place to live, work and visit.

With so many awards to hand out and lots of excited people, the night was a bit of a blur – but here is what we remember!

Service Business winner Ayesha Communications.

As usual, the evening was expertly organised with a fantastic buffet, flowing drinks and a few surprises. Fab raffle prizes were handed out – raising over £300 for Cancer Research UK.  A performance from the youngsters at Dansworks Dance Academy kept the crowd entertained during the interval and the audience were taught how to clap in British sign language by the lovely ladies at Ayesha Communications.

Ayesha Communication had a good night, taking home the award for Service Business of the year and highly commended in the Customer Friendly Business category. The Pride of Our Valley award was taken home by the Bacup Royal Court Theatre Group and there was a huge cheer when the Hop Micro Pub was announced as Best New Business!

Melbec Microbiology won Business of the Year and The Valley at Work awards.

The surprise of the night was announced by Valley at Work chairman Rob Carder, when he informed guests that two Valley awards would be given out. One went to Alison Driver, who runs Metis HR and the other was awarded to Melbec Microbiology. There was a loud gasp when Melbec were announced as winner – we suspect from owner, Dawn Mellors, who was absolutely over the moon!

At the end of the night a total of seventeen awards had been given and we were all gathered around the stage for a big group photo. You can see the full list of winners hereLiz Henson was kept busy running around with her camera to capturing the brilliant photographs seen in this post. Thanks for letting us use them Liz!

Creative Business Award

As a creative business in the Rossendale area, we thought it appropriate that we sponsor the Creative Business Award! The award went to the most creative Rossendale-based business, who have successfully demonstrated the nature and philosophy of their creative business and how they have used creative skills to build commercial success. The finalists were announced and brought up on stage by our very own Hannah Weinhold and Simon Dalley, who we are sure had to have a couple of drinks to steady their nerves.

The golden card and envelope!

The finalists:
Creation Signs – Bacup based sign and branding creators
Kidult and Co – Online based gender neutral children’s clothing range
Walking on Glass – Haslingden glass engraver, Alexis Valentine.

Kidult and Co

This is the second year running that the unisex kids clothing brand has won the award and we couldn’t be prouder. Having worked with the business, we know just how passionate they are about what they do and how much hard work happens behind the scenes. Well done guys!

Another Grow Traffic customer, Spectrum One, the luxury Haslingden based hair salon, received a highly commended award in the Business of the Year category. They were also shortlisted for several other awards.

Grow Traffic would like to congratulate all of the nominees and winners, not just from our own award category, but the whole evening. We saw and heard from some truly inspiring businesses and individuals and we can only hope that we will one day be presented with our own Rossendale Business Award! As the Mayor of Whitworth Council, Alan Neal said; “Each and every one of you is a winner.”
