How Do I Write My Content Calendar For 2022?

This week for our podcast GTFO, Hannah, Rachel and Dalley discussed ‘How Do I Write My Content Calendar For 2022?’.

A content calendar is a great way to map out exactly what you are going to write and when you are going to upload it. If you are planning on adding any content to your website or social media, then you need to make a content calendar. Here are our top 5 tips on how to do just that.

1. Plan In Advance

A content calendar can help you keep track of all the content you are planning to write. It’s a good idea to come up with all the ideas and titles before you start to write the blogs.

If you have to come up with a new title everytime you need to write a blog, you can quickly run out of ideas, be stuck on what to write about, or very easily end up duplicating content.

With a content calendar, you can easily plan in advance so that you know what you are going to do and you can make sure you haven’t accidentally used the same blog title twice.

You can download a content calendar free from GrowTraffic. Our content calendar has all the upcoming holidays and national awareness days already written in. It can be a good idea to highlight any of these days that are relevant to your business and plan content around it.

2. Understand What You Are Trying To Achieve

What is the aim of your content? Are you trying to inform people and what are you trying to tell them about? Are you trying to get them to buy something, or to help them understand how to use something that they have already bought?

Decide what tone you want for your content and make sure everything follows that same tone.

3. Think About Your Buyer Journey

The buyer journey is process a buyer will go through when they are looking for a product. You need to understand whereabout in the buyer journey a customer is when they find your business.

If they don’t know they need your product, you need to make sure they know what the product is and why they need it. If they already know they need it, then you need to explain why they should use you.

4. Have A Range Of Subjects and Types Of Content

Different content can achieve different things. It’s a good idea to have a range of subjects and types of content. There are lots of different types of content, guides and how-to pages can be incredibly useful and informative for customers when it comes to products and services, whereas top 10 lists and more colloquial personal pieces can be a great way for costumers to get to know you and your business and gain more trust in you.

It is always a good idea to have a good mix of these types of content so it doesn’t become too monotonous if you are writing the same sort of content every time.

5. Keep Reviewing It

As always, you need to keep reviewing and evaluating your progress. You might notice a particular type of blog does really well and one type of blog never gets any engagement. If this is the case then you can tweak and change your content calendar as you go so that you are getting the most out of your content.
