Having your website built in WordPress makes it incredibly easy to regularly create and upload content. The publishing platform has useful templates, layouts and an option to add plugins. It’s loved by content marketing beginners and experts alike.
Speaking of plugins… Yoast is a great WordPress SEO plugin that allows you to optimise your website like a pro. Using an easy-to-follow traffic light system, Yoast offers tips and advice on how to optimise your web content and pages.
SE Ranking is an excellent all-round SEO tool. We use it for all our clients here at GrowTraffic. It’s actually more of an analytics tool, but it’s also great for keyword research, which is crucial for content creation.
You can use it for tracking keywords, tracking your ranking position and traffic, and analysing your competitors. You do have to pay, but it’s worth every penny.
It’s not surprising that the king of the internet has its fair share of useful tools. Google Keyword Planner, for example, allows you to find the best keywords for your Google Ad campaigns and web content.
Google Search Console is also an excellent tool for SEO. However, it may be tricky to use if you’re not familiar with search engine optimisation. Search Console helps you monitor and maintain your ranking position in Google’s search results. Like most of Google’s tools, it’s free to use.
Google Alerts updates you on any new topics or news occurring in your industry. It’s useful for creating newsjacking articles. Similarly, Google Trends is a good tool for analysing popular, trending topics and search queries.
Nobody likes typos in their content. Download the Grammarly extension and ensure your content always has perfect spelling and grammar. It’s free to use.
All you have to do it create an account. You can download the extension for Word, Chrome, Windows and Mac.
Hubspot is an all-round great resource for content marketing. The Hubspot blog offers a world of advice and helpful guides to help you build a successful content marketing strategy. It will help with everything from content creation to distribution and analytics.

Distributing your content can help increase traffic to your website and can grow your audience. But what’s the best way to distribute your content?
If you want to distribute an email newsletter, Mailchimp is usually the way to go. This all-in-one integrated marketing platform allows you to up your email marketing game.
It features easy-to-use templates and helps you grow your email marketing audience. Your recent content should always be included in your email newsletter.
Sharing your content on social media channels is an effective way to grow your audience and increase traffic to your website. Hootsuite is a social media management tool that allows you to schedule posts on numerous social media channels. Plus, it’s free to use!

Moz provides a range of SEO tools. The MozBar is especially great as it allows you to keep an eye on your domain authority and spam score. The Moz Blog is also really useful for help with SEO, content marketing and more.
Google Analytics is a must-have tool for SEO and content marketing. This popular analytics tool enables you to analyse in-depth detail about your web traffic and the type of search users visiting your website.
Other Useful Tools For Content Marketing
Here are some additional useful tools that I use religiously when creating content.
Turns out you don’t have to be a graphic design wizard to create beautiful graphics. Canva allows you to create fantastic graphics, imagery and animated posts for your blog posts and social media. It’s free to sign up and really easy to use.
There are tons of templates and layouts to choose from and your designs can be downloaded as high-quality images, gifs, videos and more. For consistency across your website and social media channels, try to stick to your brand colours when creating graphics.
Unsplash is by far my favourite website for free high-resolution images AND videos. Adding visuals to content is always a great idea. But finding stock-photography can be time-consuming and tedious.
That’s where Unsplash comes in! It’s free to use and you don’t even have to create an account. However, some of the images may need resizing before uploading them to your website.
Pixabay is also an excellent website for free high-resolution images. In my opinion, it doesn’t have quite as many images to choose from as Unsplash, but it’s still a really useful website.
Asana is a project management app that allows you to keep track of your projects, collaborate with team members and share documents. It makes life so much easier! You can stay on top of your content marketing strategy and never miss a deadline.
