Google has launched a new service for those who create podcasts enabling you to dig into your listener analytics. Google Podcasts Manager will show you how well your podcast is performing in Google searches.
Google & Podcasts
Announced yesterday on the Google Webmasters Twitter account, the new service will enable podcasters to claim their podcast, view listener analytics, and learn how to find more listeners via Google search.
“Podcasters can see impressions and clicks for Google Podcasts results that appear in Search, as well as top discovered episodes and search terms that led to their podcast.”
In addition, a new podcast community forum will enable podcasters to team up to offer solution and advice:
“For podcasters curious about how to optimize their podcast for Google, we’ve put together a few pointers in our newly launched Podcasts Manager forum”
The new tool will include listener habits data, including when listeners tune in and drop off your content – a useful indication of what works (or doesn’t) for your listeners.
Podcasts don’t show any sign of slowing down in popularity; Ofcom reported last year that around 7.1 million people in the UK now listen to podcasts each week.
That’s one in eight people!
With that in mind, it’s not surprising that Google has decided to offer enhanced services for podcasters. We’re sure Google Podcast Manager is going to become a really handy tool for content creators.
Whilst we are talking about podcasts…
You heard it here first….
GrowTraffic will be launching our very own podcast!
In case you didn’t know, we started running Facebook live sessions during the Covid lockdown, offering advice on everything from home-schooling to coping with mental health. We do also talk about content marketing and SEO!
Anyway, we all got a taste of internet fame (our definition of fame is ten listeners haha) and decided we wanted to create a podcast that was more in line with what we do as a business.
Keep your ears and eyes peeled!
