Google has announced that their introduction of the SameSite cookie labelling will be rolled back due to the Coronavirus lockdown. They went on to say that all users of Chrome 80 will have SameSite turned off for the time being. Read more
The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed a change to how Google displays both paid and organic search results on desktop. Just this week, Google has started to roll out a new look which brings desktop search results inline with mobile search results.
Over the last 18 months Google seems to have decided to pick on black and white animals, first it came out with the Panda Update, apparently named after Mr Panda at Google (originally named by the SEO community as the Farmer Update), more recently it’s launched the Penguin update, I’m going to put my money on Google naming the next update the Google Orca Update. You may have noticed that in the last few days there has been a bit of a shift around in the rankings. Some people have gained, some people have a bit of work to do. I’m pleased to say on this occassion Grow Traffic seems to have gained, or at least it seems to have regained some of the rankings that we’ve always been strong for. The new update is called Google Penguin, there was a movement in the search community to get it called Google Titanic update however that seems to be out at sea a bit and Penguin Update has stuck.
