As I told in my blog post from a few days ago, GrowTraffic have been having an overhaul of our own website lately and, as the work is now well underway, we’d like to know if you have any thoughts on the matter?
A Desperately Needed Update
Our previous GrowTraffic website had been with us since the inception of GrowTraffic in 2009, when the business was in its infancy and Simon Dalley was toiling away single-handedly to create a Freelance SEO Consultancy with ethics. Over the past five years, GrowTraffic has changed considerably, helping a lot of companies out with their SEO campaigns and growing in size, not to mention moving offices, twice.
During all that time though, our website had more or less stayed the same and we suddenly realised that, for a company at the cutting edge of search marketing, our website was distinctly old fashioned with a design that was passé two years ago and content that had been swapped and changed so often it barely made sense anymore.
A Complete Overhaul
Hence, over the past couple of months, both Simon and I have been working very hard (whilst still working on our client’s campaigns) to overhaul the website from the bottom up. Even the most imperceptive amongst you must have noticed the changes that we have implemented, from fresh and updated content to new images and even a new design.
More SEO Friendly
Now obviously, as a company specialising in all things SEO, our motivations behind the new re-design was not to build the most fantastic, space-age website that money can buy; we know that design is crucial in SEO but it’s not the be-all-and-end-all.
Instead, the idea behind the new website was to demonstrate that it is possible to build a website that is both simple to create and simple to use, whilst still being fully optimised for the search engines. Hence, the new site is still a simple WordPress site, easy to upload content to and to change if necessary, and is still very easy to navigate for visitors.
What’s more, we think that we have included all the relevant information and found a balance between having a sufficient word count to please Google and overloading visitors with information. All the fundamentals are there too; a ‘Contact’ page, an ‘About Us’ page and, of course, an explanation of the services we offer.
Through our blog, which we are now posting more frequently (as the eagle-eyed amongst you will already have noticed), we are also hoping to provide plenty of useful information that will help visitors gain a good basic grounding in SEO and even improve their websites themselves.
Basically, we’re hoping that the new site will help GrowTraffic practice what it preaches!
It Ain’t Over Yet
Admittedly, the new website is still a work in progress and there are a few tweaks and adjustments that we still need to make to ensure that everything is working correctly, but overall we’re feeling quite pleased with ourselves.
As ever, though, we’d love to hear your feedback on it, so please let us know if you think there’s anything that we’ve missed or anything that you think could be improved upon. Any and all comments will be gratefully received.
Also, please stay tuned to the GrowTraffic blog, where the remaining posts in our Blogging Series, The Blogging Blogs, will be published over the coming days. Having pretty thoroughly covered the theory behind blogging and why you should be doing it to help promote your website, we’re moving on to the practical side and will be treating you to some free guides to help you maximise the potential of your blog and make it work harder for your business.
As ever, you can get in touch with us in any of the usual ways; either by leaving a comment below, by emailing us at email@example.com, by phoning Simon on 07411 420 740 or via the form on the contact page of the website.
We look forward to hearing from you!
